What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a treatment option that helps to straighten and perfect your smile. The system uses a series of clear aligner trays that are worn for about 22 hours each day. The aligners can be removed to eat and properly brush your teeth. Invisalign trays are virtually invisible to the naked eye, so no one will even know you’re wearing them.
Why is Invisalign needed?
You may need Invisalign if your teeth are crooked or crowded. The aligners work by applying pressure to the teeth. This helps to get your teeth to look straighter, making them easier to clean and care for. Invisalign treatment can take anywhere from a few months to a couple of years depending on how severe your orthodontic problems currently are.
Who is a candidate for Invisalign?
We can examine your teeth to determine if you might need or want Invisalign. Most patients who need orthodontic treatment choose Invisalign because it is an invisible way to perfect their teeth. The system may not be suitable for younger kids, since the trays are removable and your child will need to know the replace the trays after eating and brushing. You can expect Invisalign treatment to be easy, quick and incredibly beneficial to your oral health.
What happens during Invisalign treatment?
The procedure begins with impressions taken to make your brand new Invisalign trays. We then place the trays to ensure they’re comfortable and instruct you on how to wear them. The trays should be removed whenever you eat or brush your teeth. You’ll come back every 8-10 weeks to make sure you are on course. When treatment is finished, we will fit you with a retainer that is going to allow you to maintain your results and keep a straight smile for the rest of your life.
